i have a curta clculator made in liechtenstin (custom union with Switzerland by Contina Ltd Mauren system Curt Herzakark number is 507984 and it has markings on it, scrtched on
x-1343 AHD
i would like to sell it, but no one seems to know anything about it, can you help me out, would truly apprecaite it – we bought it in Indiana about 40 year ago, and it works, no instructions – please rely to aboe mrked calculator – thans for all yor hel- scottsdale, ariz.

Thanks! No pix of “2Jr.” the V8 60 powered TC that Jack bought from Bill Cramer? I don’t think that’s it behind Perry, tho that is a mod. TC. The shot of the pre-war Singer at the Ambassador may be ’52, as behind one sees the noses of the two Cunningham C2s that were driven from Florida by Phil Hill and Jerry Cheesebrough (sp.?) and sold to Irving Robbins (the black one) and a guy named Cameron (the white one). Both raced at the 4th Palm Springs (early ’52). Perry Peron gave me a ride from our motel (the Silver Saddle) in Santa Barbara out to the track at Goleta in his Panhard Spl. probably at the ’55 event. MJ

Hi Walt. Great to hear from you. I am in touch with Mike Thompson, son of Chuck Thompson. He sent me some plaques from the 1963, 1965, and 1968 Desperation 500 events. I’ll forward the emails in which I sent images of the items Mike provided to the FCCA email list. I will also add you to that list.

I am gathering material now from some of our old records about High Sierra Club. That is me giving out one of the trophies at Desperation 500. You have it listed in the Tehachapi area which is wrong we were in Inyokern and Ridgecrest. I will follow up with more information later. Thanks for the great start you guys have gotten of too. Walt

Hi Michael. Where are you located? There are a couple of groups in Southern California that meet and discuss sports car racing in the 1950s and 1960s. One is a group that meets monthly in Burbank and the other is a larger group that meets at various places around Southern California. Contact me if you’d like more information on these groups. One of the people who belongs to both groups is Art Evans. Art has written several books on sports car racing in the 1950s and 1960s. Among them is The Fabulous Fifties. It has a whole chapter devoted to Santa Barbara, although it only includes one full list of entries, that for the first race in 1953. Let me know if you’d like Art’s contact information and I’ll pass it along. I would be most interested in learning more about your collection of regalia. Please provide more details as time allows.

Bill: I just purchased a silver tray with a Four Cylinder Club of America emblem in the center at an antique store in Charleston, SC. It has a trophy shop sticker on the back from Los Angles. I can send pictures if you like and maybe someone can help identify the era and possible history of its orgin.
